It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Albert Morrison (Be-baam-aat-ta-ge-ga-bow), 71, on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Albert was born Feb. 3, 1939 at Seine River, Ont. to the late Gilbert Oshawee and Ida Morrison. He had lived all his life in the district.
He had worked as a carpenter and a guide, and loved trapping. He also enjoyed playing Bingo and he loved all sports, especially hockey and baseball.
His latest hobby was making star blankets. He believed and practised the traditional way of life.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Dennis (Roseanne) Morrison Sr., Darlene Morrison, Roger Morrison, David Morrison, Jeffrey (Crystal) Morrison, Sharon Morrison, Kimberly Morrison, Albert Morrison Jr., Shannon Morrison, and Joyanne Morrison.
Albert also is survived by his grandchildren, Dan (Brittany), Dennis Jr. (Whitney), Tami (Tylar), Kristen, Trevor (Jasmine) Trisha, Christine, Shyla, Christopher, Jason, Kristen, Pernell, Felicia, Jesse, Jana, Kendra, Cassandra, Dylan, Kayla, Brandon, Ashton, Tucker, James, Gunnar, Jordan, Tristan, Deyton, and Madeline; and great-grandchildren, Damion, Kayleigh, Tianna, Keagan, Peyton, Taneecha, Rylan, and Rayleo.
Also surviving are his siblings, Francis (Betty) Kavanaugh, Larry Oshawee, Eugene Oshawee, Clarence Oshawee, Margaret Bluebird, Vivian Kavanaugh, and Rosanna Oshawee-Head (Michael); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, June Ottertail; brother, Angus Oshawee Sr.; and sisters, Marilyn Rose Ida Oshawee and Mabel Smith.
A traditional service will be held Sunday, March 21, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the Roundhouse at Lac La Croix First Nation.
Elder Peter White will officiate, followed by interment in the Lac La Croix First Nation Cemetery.
A wake will be held Saturday, March 20, 2010 from 10 a.m. at the Roundhouse at Lac La Croix First Nation.
The pallbearers will be Albert’s family and friends.
