RUBY “LUELLA” HOSKINS

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ruby “Luella” Hoskins on March 1, 2010 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Luella was born in Blackhawk, Ont. on Nov. 22, 1922 to the late John and Nora Hagen.
Luella was predeceased by her husband, Leslie; brothers, Earl, Lloyd, Norman, James, Ralph, and Eddie; and sisters, Bella Jewell and Lottie Halvorsen.
She is survived by her sister, Myrtle Loveday; brother, Walter Hagen; and her four children, Elaine (Kaz) of Ottawa, Ont., Sheila (Ted) of Guelph, Ont., and Gordon (Bonnie) and David of Emo, Ont.
She also is survived by grandchildren, Janice, Jodie, Sarah, Shelly, Deborah, Keri, Lorraine, Kate, and Edwin; as well as eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Luella lived on their farm north of Emo, where she raised her family and was well-known for her many talents. These included her beautiful music, guitar playing and singing at home and in the community, her handmade quilts, and her love of gardening.
For many years she was leader of 4-H homemaking clubs.
Luella also loved picking all types of berries and making preserves for the months ahead.
Luella and her husband, Leslie, were well-known beekeepers, and for more than 50 years their honey was enjoyed by many people in the community and beyond.
Family and friends were received Thursday, March 4, 2010 from 7-9 p.m. at the Northridge Funeral Home in Emo for a visitation.
The funeral took place there on Friday, March 5, 2010 at 1 p.m.
The pallbearers were Bob Irvine, Carl Cates, John Hagen, Cliff Hagen, Larry Hagen, and Ted Halvorsen.
