It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our son, grandson, and brother, George Phillip “Wagoosh” Handorgan III, 16, of 275 First St. E., Fort Frances, Ont., at his home on Monday, Sept. 28, 2009.
George was born April 10, 1993 in Fort Frances to George Handorgan Jr. and Stephanie Perrault. George recently was adopted into the (Pizhiw) “Lynx” Clan.
George currently was completing his education at the United Native Friendship Centre in Fort Frances.
He liked to live life to the fullest, and enjoyed drawing, playing guitar, fishing, attending pow-wows and other ceremonies, and spending time with family and friends.
He will be missed dearly by his family and many friends.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Margaret Perrault and paternal grandfather, George Handorgan Sr.
George is survived by his mother, Stephanie Perrault and Norman Kelly of Fort Frances, Ont.; stepfather, Jason Jourdain of Fort Frances, Ont.; father, George Handorgan Jr. of Kenora, Ont.; and three sisters, Brittany Handorgan and Nigel Kelly, Taylor Perrault, and Chantal Perrault, all of Fort Frances, Ont.
He also is survived by his maternal grandfather, Leslie Perrault of Toronto, Ont.; paternal grandmother, Elise Wesley of Thunder Bay, Ont.; nephew, Naisayah Bryce Kelly of Fort Frances, Ont.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A traditional burial will be held Friday, Oct. 2, 2009 in the morning at the Nigigoonsiminikaaning First Nation gymnasium. Elder George Boshkaykin will officiate, with burial in Nigigoonsiminikaaning First Nation Cemetery.
A wake will be held on Thursday evening, Oct. 1, 2009, at the Nigigoonsiminikaaning First Nation gymnasium.
The pallbearers will be Nigel Kelly, Justin Handorgan, Cyle Jourdain, Julius Handorgan, Vernon Smith, and Vincent Yerxa.
The honourary pallbearers will be Kyle Shoemaker, Nathan Shoemaker, Andrew VanHeyst, Nicole Shepherd, and the rest of George’s friends.
