JESSIE VALENTINE HUGHES

Jessie Hughes (nee Cay), 83, of Rainy River, Ont., passed away peacefully on Monday, June 1, 2009 at the Rainy River Health Centre with her family by her side.
Jessie was born in Inverness, Scotland on Aug. 17, 1925 to the late William and Alice Cay.
Jessie was a draper’s assistant during the war, and served in the N.A.A.F.I and A.T.S.
During the war, Jessie met Richard (Ted) Hughes while he was serving in the north of Scotland and they were united in marriage on May 26, 1945.
They came to Canada in June, 1946, residing in Rainy River.
Jessie is survived by her sisters, Margaret Colebrooke of England and Alice Coffyn of Sudbury, Ont. She also is survived by many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Jessie was predeceased by her husband, Ted (2008); parents, William and Alice; and brothers, John and Frank Cay.
Family and friends will be received Thursday, June 4, 2009 from 7-9 p.m. at St. James Anglican Church in Rainy River, where funeral service will be held Friday, June 5, 2009 at 3 p.m., with Rev. Eileen Bragg officiating.
Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Rainy River.
The pallbearers will be Sandra Coffyn, Derek Coffyn, Calvin Haglin, Donna Haglin, Bob Desrosier, and Patti Desrosier.
