GORDY PLASKY

Gordy Plasky, 65, of International Falls, Mn., passed away Monday, May 11, 2009 at his home.
He was born Oc. 17, 1943 in Fort Frances, Ont. He was raised in Fort Frances and graduated from Falls High School.
Gordy was united in marriage to the former Mary Hickey on Nov. 17, 1962 at the Zion Lutheran Church in International Falls.
In his early years, Gordy worked for Arason’s Body Shop and Julien’s Body Shop before beginning a long career with the City of International Falls. He retired from his job as the International Falls Street Commissioner nine years ago.
His hobbies included attending auctions, flea markets, camping, fishing, pheasant hunting, and, above all, spending time with his grandchildren and family.
He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Bernice Plasky; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bud and May Hickey; brother, Ron Plasky; and brothers-in-law, Gary Spencer and Gordon Messerschmidt.
Gordy is survived by his loving wife, Mary Plasky, son, Robert (Barbie) Plasky, daughter, Berta (Bill Valentine) Hagen, and grandchildren, Nicholas and Stephanie Hagen, and Trevor and Tyler Plasky, all of International Falls.
Also surviving are his brother, Robert Stephen Plasky of Fort Frances, Ont.; sisters, Marlys (Dorlyn) Desens of International Falls, Mn., Judy Spencer of Hamilton, Ont., Kathleen Messerschmidt of Vadnais Heights, Mn., and Barb Plasky of Fort Frances, Ont.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Del and Bonnie Hickey of International Falls, Mn.; sister-in-law, Ione Plasky of Calgary, Alta.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He also is survived by a special pet, “T.J.”
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 14, 2009 at 2 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in International Falls. Visitation will be held one hour prior.
Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in International Falls.
