ETHEL IRENE (PEACHES) BARRAS

It is with great sadness that the family of Ethel Irene (Peaches) Barras, 74, of 532 Front St., Fort Frances, Ont., announced her passing on Friday, May, 1, 2009 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
Ethel was born April 10, 1935 in Fort Frances to the late James and Madeline Webb. Ethel grew up at Couchiching First Nation, and at the age of three moved to Fort Frances.
On Jan. 6, 1961, she was united in marriage to Charles Barras.
In earlier years, she was a Scout leader with her husband. For enjoyment, she liked playing TV bingo, and loved and adored her grandchildren very much.
She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Ethel is survived by eight children, Patricia Careri and Madeline Barras, both of Toronto, Ont., James Barras (Josephine) of International Falls, Mn., Webb Barras of Toronto, Ont., Dennis Barras (Carmen) of Atikokan, Ont., Dian (Daryl) Perrault of International Falls, Mn., Valery Barras, and John Barras of Fort Frances, Ont.; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are one brother, Frank Webb of Fort Frances, Ont.; one sister, Annie Webb of Fort Frances, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ethel was predeceased by her husband, Charles Barras, in 2003; two children, Michael and Charlotte Barras; and four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Rev. Mr. Elmer Mainville officiating.
Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances at a later date.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 6, 2009 from 7-9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Parish prayers will be offered at 7:30 p.m., led by Rev. Mr. Elmer Mainville.
The honourary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
