ELIZA SMITH

Eliza Smith, 59, of Northwest Bay First Nation, Ont., passed away Saturday, April 25, 2009 at her residence at Northwest Bay First Nation.
Eliza was born Aug. 23, 1949 in Northwest Bay First Nation to the late Alphonse and Mary Smith.
She was united in marriage April 1, 1966 to Fred Smith and had been married for the past 43 years.
Eliza worked for Northwest Bay as the medical van driver for more than 20 years. She liked to play cards and Bingo, attend pow-wows, and spectate, and also loved spending time with her grandkids, children, family, and friends.
She will be sadly missed by her husband, Fred Smith; seven children, C. Wesley (Lori), Lisa (Gary C.), Priscilla, Orville (Connie), Doreen, Curtis (Gina), and Duane (Selena); 17 grandchildren, Alyssa, Joelle, Ben, Tim, Travis, Tyler, Taryn, Monica, Kersten, Darian, Gabriel, Gracie, Jordan, Zoe, Brianna, Wendel, and Braden; and two great-granddaughters, Danielle and Annalise.
She also is survived by her siblings, Gilbert (Delia), Wayne (Colleen), Elsie (Richard), Lorraine (Tommy), Florence (Willie), Louise, and Alice; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Leonard Smith; one sister in infancy; mother-in-law, Margaret Smith; and one aunt, Nina Windego.
A memorial service to celebrate Eliza’s life will be held Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Northwest Bay First Nation Community Hall, with Elder Gene Goodsky officiating.
The honourary pallbearers will be Annie McGinnis, Alice Smith, Joanne Ogden, Gary Smith, Darren Smith, and Norman Cyr.
