It is with great sadness that the family of William Alexander “Doc” Roach, 89, of 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., announces his passing on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Doc was born Aug. 26, 1919, Kenora, Ont. to the late Lawrence and Margaret Roach.
He was predeceased by his wife, Eileen Roach, on March 10, 1996; two sons, William David Nelson Roach in 1957 and Wylie Young Roach in 2000; three brothers, Maurice, Lawrence, and Donald Roach; and two sisters, Dorothy Young and Margaret Brumbaugh.
Doc leaves behind to mourn his four children, Graham Roach of Toronto, Ont., Beth Michalska of Kingston, Ont., Jim Roach of Brandon, Man., and Margaret and husband, Doug Chapman, of Swan River, Man.; four grandchildren, Andrew Chapman and wife, Melissa, Meara Michalska, and Carmen and Evan Chapman; three great-grandchildren, Madisson, Luke, and Logan Chapman; one sister, Roberta Robertson of Kenora, Ont.; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate Doc’s life will be held Monday, April 27, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with his friend and colleague, Dr. Dan Pierroz, officiating.
The Royal Canadian Legion Br. #29 Colour Party will provide its military tribute at the service.
Interment will take place in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances at a later date.
