ERNIE ROSS

In loving memory of Ernie Ross, 74, who passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 12, 2009 at his home following a lengthy illness.
Born April 25, 1934 in Stratton, Ont., Ernie was the second-oldest of nine children.
Prior to coming to Dryden, Ont., Ernie worked in Minaki, Ont. and Atikokan, Ont. He came to Dryden in 1958, and was employed at the paper mill as an electrician for 39 years.
He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Sadie.
Remaining to cherish his memory are Pat, his wife of 48 years; three children, Darcy (Jim), Brian (Maureen), and Donna (Steve); and grandchildren, Scott, Kate, Emily, Abby, Christina, Shannon, Danya, and Aiden.
Also surviving are her sisters, Jean, Shirley, Rita, and Maxine; brothers, Jim, John, Melvin, and Ken; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ernie enjoyed fishing and spent many happy hours on Lac Seul with his longtime friend, Norm. He also was an avid reader who absorbed everything and was able to discuss any topic with others.
He loved his work and the many challenges it brought. He often was called into work during his off time because the guys knew that Ernie could fix the problem.
Ernie also enjoyed spending time working in his yard and garden. He was a longtime fan of minor hockey and took great pleasure in watching his grandson Scott play.
A funeral service was held Friday, April 17, 2009 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, with Rev. Alan Campeau officiating.
Interment followed in the Dryden Cemetery.
Visitation was held Thursday, April 16, 2009 from 5-7 p.m., with prayers at 6 p.m., in the Stevens Funeral Homes “Moffat Chapel.”
