DORIS LAW

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Doris Law, announce her passing on Monday, March 2, 2009 at her residence at 550 Osborne St. in Fort Frances, Ont.
Doris was born Aug. 2, 1917 at Insinger, Sask. to the late Nick and Mary Serediuk. She spent her younger years on the family farm there.
In 1934, Doris married John Walter Law Sr. and the family moved to Mine Centre, Ont. During the more than 50 years there, Doris was an active member of the school board and worked many years at the Bliss Cabins.
After the death of her husband, John, in 1985, Doris and her stepson, John Walter Jr., moved to Fort Frances, where she was a long-time member of St. George’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
She also was a member of the Lesia Ukrainka and St. Anna’s groups of the Ukrainian Women’s Association of Canada, the choir, and helped out wherever needed. She worked many hours with the ladies of “the hall” getting ready for whatever caterings they were doing.
She also was a member of the Rebekas, and an avid bowler.
Doris’ favourite past time was to crochet, and was well-known for her beautiful work.
Doris was predeceased by her brothers, John, George, Matt, Bill, and Tony; sisters, Katie and Helen; her husband of 50 year,s John Walter Sr. in 1985; her son, Mike, in 2002; and her stepson, John Walter Jr., in 2007.
Doris is survived by her eldest son, Nick (Joyce) of Brandon, Man.; daughter, Doris McFee of Wainwright, Alta.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 5, 2009 from 7-9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with prayers offered at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 6, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. The Very Rev. Father Dr. Oleg Krawchenko will officiate, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
The pallbearers will be David Law, Lorne Heslip, Murray Heller, Jim Bliss, Rick Bliss, and Tony Bliss.
Honourary pallbearers will be Joe Bliss, George Oliver, Adam Heslip, Paul Wepruk, and Alex Socholotuk.
