MARGARET “PEGGY” MARTINSON

In loving memory of Peggy Martinson, 88, of Fort Frances, Ont., who passed away peacefully at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances on Friday, Nov. 21, 2008.
She leaves behind her sons, Terry and wife, Mary, of Fort Frances, Ont., and Raymond and wife, Joyce, of Fort Frances, Ont.; daughter, Brenda and husband, Allen Dolph, of Fort Frances, Ont.; and grandchildren, Karl Martinson, Patrick Martinson, and David Dolph.
Also surviving are one sister Hilda McMahon of Kenora, Ont.; one brother, John Lengyel and wife, Mabel, of Fort Frances, Ont.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joe Martinson, on July 22, 2000; and six sisters, Irene Alexander, Helen Smith, Katie Loewen, Mary Benson, Anne Frenette, and Julia Lansing.
Peggy was born May 1, 1920 in Lestock, Sask. to the late John and Mary Lengyel. At the age of two, her family moved to Stratton, Ont., where Peggy grew up. In 1941, she was united in marriage to Joe Martinson in Fort Frances.
During WWII, while Joe was in the services, Peggy moved to Ajax, Ont. to work at the Defense Industries Ltd. until 1944, when she returned to Fort Frances. In 1945, Joe returned home to join her following his discharge from the services in Scotland and Europe.
Peggy’s main interests in life were her family, and growing flowers and vegetables in their garden. Peggy also was a lifelong member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Fort Frances.
Peggy loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by her family and many friends.
Cremation took place at Rainy River Cremation Services in International Falls, Mn.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008 at 1 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Fort Frances, with Pastor Brian Keffer officiating.
Interment will take place in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances at a later date.
The honourary pallbearers will be Karl and Patrick Martinson, David Dolph, and Sharon Amos.
