ERNEST JOSEPH KLYNE

Ernest Joseph Klyne, 67, of Thunder Bay, Ont., passed away Friday, Oct. 10, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Hospice with his family at his side after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born Oct. 29, 1940, Ernie grew up in Fort Frances, Ont. and moved to Thunder Bay after serving in the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry-Airborne for six years.
He worked for many construction companies, and retired from Lafarge in 2002 as a superintendent of crushing operations.
Ernie then formed his own consulting and safety training company, which helped pass the time between golf matches and curling games.
A longtime member of the Strathcona Golf Club, one of his proudest achievements was shooting a 71 at Strathcona.
Ernie also was a member of the Port Arthur Curling Club and during the winter months, you could find him down at the club playing with the “Go Slows.”
Above all, Ernie enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, Sheanna.
He will be sadly missed by his granddaughter, Sheanna (Chubby) Bannon; special canine friend, Sheta; grandsons, Stephen Bannon Jr., Jayce Linklater, and Jadyn Linklater; children, Robyn Judd, Jodi E. Judd (Steve Bannon Sr.), and Randy Linklater (Michelle); their mother, Ida Linklater; and sisters, Donna Wood (John) and Judy Klyne of Fort Frances, Ont.
Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
He was predeceased by his father, Pete Klyne; mother, Marie Klyne; brothers, Harold Klyne and Patrick Klyne; sister, Kathleen Roach; brothers-in-law, Chuck Roach and Gerald Loveday; and infant brother, Donald, and infant sister, Myrtle.
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Port Arthur Curling Club.
Interment will take place at a later date in Fort Frances.
