BEATRICE (BEA) SIGURDSON

Beatrice (Bea) Sigurdson, 76, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Monday, June 16, 2008 at Rainycrest in Fort Frances.
She was born June 15, 1932 in Brandon, Man. She was united in marriage to Gordon Sigurdson on Sept. 1, 1951 and they moved to Fort Frances in 1961.
She joined the staff of Safeway, where she worked for many years. After leaving Safeway, she worked for the UFCW. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, bird-watching, gardening, and crafts.
Bea and Gordon loved to travel, and they frequently wintered in the south. One of her favourite memories was competing on “The Price is Right” and winning the “Showcase,” which included trips to Thailand, Ireland, and Boston.
Her biggest joy came from watching her grandchildren. She constantly attended games, recitals, and school functions, and was very proud of all of their accomplishments.
She was predeceased by her parents, John Snuggs and Hilda Humphrey; husband, Gordon, on June 10, 2005; granddaughter, Marie; uncle, Vernon Birch; sister-in-law, Helen and husband, Roy Taylor; brothers-in-law, Wallace Buckley and John Jennings; and father- and mother-in-law, Peter and Helen Sigurdson.
Bea leaves behind her daughter, Corinne and husband, Larry Webb, and son, Greg Sigurdson and wife, Gina, all of Fort Frances, Ont.; grandchildren, Angela and husband, Blaine DeGagne, Kevin Webb and friend, Samantha, Miranda Sigurdson, and Josh Sigurdson and friend, Katie; and great-grandson, Jaden Cooper.
Also surviving are her uncle, Ron Birch and wife, Irene; aunt, Marjorie Birch; sisters-in-law, Jean and husband, George Doole, and Marg Buckley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Pastor Diane Clifford officiating.
Cremation has taken place, with interment in the LaVerendrye Columbarium in Fort Frances.
The honourary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Angela DeGagne, Kevin Webb, Miranda Sigurdson, and Josh Sigurdson.
