Elizabeth Francis Shebagegit (Netamwetamook), 56, of Onigaming First Nation, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ont.
Elizabeth was born Feb. 12, 1952 in Fort Frances, Ont. She enjoyed playing Bingo, attending pow-wows, picking blueberries, going to garage sales, cooking, and fishing.
Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, family, and friends.
She was united in marriage to Morris Shebagegit, who survives along with her children, Myrna Shebagegit, Derek Shebagegit, Miranda Shebagegit, and Anita Shebagegit.
Also surviving are her grandchildren, Micheal Andy, Annabelle Shebagegit, Alyssa Herbert, Rolanda Shebagegit, and Victoria Shebagegit; her father, Jim Windego; brothers and sisters, Charlie, Beatrice, Clayton, Dennis, Gayle, Jim Jr., Lou Ann, Gary, Diane, Verna, Will, Bradley, and Harry Windego, Dennis and Bruce Black, Brad Councillor, and Annie McGinnis; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, Roland Shebagegit; mother, Mae Black; step-father, John Black; and her sister, Brenda Councillor.
A traditional funeral service was held Wednesday, May 14, 2008 in the morning at the Onigaming First Nation gymnasium. Elder Dennis Black officiated, followed by interment in the Onigaming First Nation Cemetery.
A funeral wake was held Tuesday evening, May 13, 2008 at the Onigaming First Nation gymnasium.
The pallbearers were Lindsay Prince, Brian Shebagegit, Larry McGinnis, Richard Swampy, Gary Smith, and Shawn Councillor.
