EDWARD ALAN (AL) SULLIVAN

Edward Alan (Al) Sullivan, 79, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away suddenly on Friday, April 18th, 2008 at Riverside Health Care Facilities with his family at his side.
Alan was born in Shoal Lake, Man. on May 10, 1928 to the late Daniel and Ethel Sullivan.
He was predeceased by his only sibling, Gwen Berg.
Alan was raised in Rainy River, Ont., where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, curling, and many fun times with his friends. Alan was united in marriage to Eileen Calder on July 5, 1951 and they had four children.
Alan worked many years as a guide on Lake of the Woods and as a brakeman for the C.N.R. He was a Rainy River town policeman before becoming an OPP officer for 35 years.
As a police officer, Alan worked throughout Northwestern Ontario (Rainy River, Nakina, Geraldton, and Emo/Fort Frances, where he retired). He was a loyal and dedicated officer known for fairness and understanding.
Alan and Eileen had a great love for the outdoors, and spent many years camping and fishing with their buddies at the provincial park in Morson, Ont.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen, of 56 years; son, Randy (Maureen) and grandchildren, Randii-Lynn and Cody; daughter, Alane Collins (Dennis), granddaughter, Christina, and great-grandchildren, Braydon, Rylee, and Cael; son, Tom (Chris) and grandchildren, Tiffany and Justin; and son, Paul (Sandy) and grandchildren, Donny, Jodi, and Robyn.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances, with Fr. Francis Pudicherry officiating.
Cremation has taken place in International Falls, Mn., and interment will take place at a later date.
The pallbearers were Harry Bell, Brian Lowery, Randy Cooke, and Dave Saunders.
Honorary pallbearers were John Kotnick and Bob Everett.
