It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Russell “Russ” Beaushene, 89, of Emo, Ont., formerly of Nestor Falls, Ont., who passed away peacefully on Friday, April 18, 2008 at the Emo Health Centre in Emo with his family at his side.
He was born Nov. 9, 1918 in Fort Frances, Ont. to the late Fred and Irene Beaushene. The family moved to Nestor Falls when Russ was very young.
On Feb. 9, 1942, Russ was united in marriage to the former Blanche Tetu.
During WW II, Russ joined the R.C.A.F. and served as an air force mechanic overseas. Following the war, he returned home and started a small garage fixing outboard motors and vehicles. He later worked for Northwest Flying Servce as an aircraft engineer for 25 years.
Following his retirement from the flying service, he moved on to take ownership and operate North Ario Enterprises. For enjoyment, his passion of airplanes continued by flying model airplanes.
In past years, he was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Nestor Falls, and in later years as a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Emo.
Russ was dearly loved, and will be missed greatly by his family and friends whose hearts he touched over his lifetime.
He was predeceased by his wife, Blanche Beaushene, in 1990; and by two brothers, George and Doug Beaushene.
Russ will be sadly missed and remembered by his daughter, Diana (Terry) Halvorson of Nestor Falls, Ont.; two sons, Gary (Carole) and Dennis (Kathy) Beaushene, all of Dryden, Ont.; four grandchildren, Todd (Diane) Halvorsen, Patti (Richard) Kelley, Christi (Steve) Hulsman, and Pamela (Paul) Marion; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Evelyn Widgren of Emo, Ont. and and Mildred Thompson of B.C.; two sisters-in-law, Kay Beaushene and Betty Beaushene; and by a very special friend, Lil Pihulak.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 24, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Fr. Francis Pudicherry officiating.
Cremation has taken place in International Falls, Mn.
Interment will take place in the Norman Cottam Memorial Garden Cemetery in Nestor Falls at a later date.
The honourary pallbearers will be members of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29 Colour Party.
