It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Buddy Brown, youngest son of Rose and Percy Brown, on March 30, 2008 at his home in Coquitlam, B.C. He was 63.
He was born May 27, 1944, and was raised and received his education here in Fort Frances, Ont. After he graduated from high school, he went to work at the local paper mill.
In 1965, he moved to B.C. to find employment. He settled in the Vancouver area and had lived there ever since.
He was employed by the City of Vancouver, and worked his way up to become one of the best mechanics in the Vancouver area.
He was always ready and willing to help anyone who would call him for help or advice on their automobiles. They will remember him for being an excellent mechanic.
He retired three years ago.
He loved being outdoors. In earlier years, he loved to hunt and fish whenever he could get out of the city. In later years, it was mainly fishing. He especially enjoyed visits from his special nephew and friend, Ken Tetreault, who lived in Oliver, B.C.
He also spent many happy times visiting Ken in Oliver, and fishing with him in the beautiful Okanagan Valley. These were precious times with him.
Buddy was good-natured, easy-going, and generous to a fault. He liked joking and had a great sense of humour, and enjoyed a lot of laughs with his sister and nephew.
These are the things he will be remembered for by those who knew him best.
He also was a talented hockey player in his youth, contributing to many league titles.
Buddy had no family of his own.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, William and Alice Brown in England; maternal grandparents, Hilma and John Blom; parents, Rose and Percy Brown; and infant sister, Elizabeth.
Left to remember Buddy besides his special nephew/friend, Ken (Diane) Tetreault, in Oliver, B.C., in Fort Frances his sister, Velma Blom and her family, Eleanor (Wayne) Barron and family and Frank (Traci) Lockman and family; brother, Bob (Laverna) Brown and family, Dennis Brown and son, Lynn-Marie Chambers and family, Wendy (Martin) Kellar and family, Sandra (Larry) Lutz, and David (Laurie) Brown and family; and brother, Bill in Victoria, B.C., and family, Lori (Keith) Dunahee and family, Roxy (Miles) Henneberry and family, and Amber Brown.
Buddy’s body was cremated and regarding his wishes, no funeral service will be held.
His remains will be brought to Oliver for burial at a later date.
Farewell little brother/uncle. Go with “6-cylinders.” We love you, your sister, Velma.
