It is with great sadness that the family of Bruce Parker announces his passing on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Bruce was born Aug. 12, 1944 in Winnipeg, Man. to Wilfred and Kittie Parker. He grew up on Rita Street in the west end of Winnipeg.
On June 27, 1969, he was united in marriage to Roberta (Bobbie) Rendall.
Bruce worked for the Winnipeg airport for 10 years, then he and Bobbie purchased a small butcher shop in Manitou, Man. in 1975, operating it until 1981.
They moved to Fort Frances later that year and Bruce purchased Mr. Sub. He was a constant figure in the sub shop; he always had a smile and a funny story for his patrons.
In his spare time he loved to fish, do woodworking, and occasionally hunt for partridge. He was a quiet and private man who did not like to be the centre of attention, but somehow always seemed to end up there with his jokes, teasing, and stories.
Bruce leaves behind his wife, Roberta (Bobbie) of Fort Frances, Ont.; daughter, Jodi of San Francisco, Calif.; niece, Terry Forrester and husband, Dean, and their children, Taylor and Madison; and nephew, Michael Latour and wife, Crystal, and their children, Dean and Owen.
Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Helen Rendall; brothers-in-law, Harold (Gay) Rendall and Lawrie (Nancy) Rendall; sister-in-law, Grace Rendall and special sister-in-law, Debbie (Robert) Morrow, and their families; godson, Matt DePiero; as well as his beloved dog, Max.
He was predeceased by his parents, Wilfred and Kittie Parker; and sister, Dorothy and her husband, Dennis Latour.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Pastor Ken Johnson officiating.
Cremation has taken place at the Rainy River Crematory in International Falls, Mn.
The honourary pallbearers will be all of Bruce’s family and friends.
