LAURA DYCK

LAURA DYCK

She was predeceased by her sister, Marie (Leo) Neuman; three brothers, Arthur, Erdman (Sylvia), and Edward (Trudy) Friesen; as well as in-laws, Peter (Mary) Dyck, Albert (Lillian) Dyck, and Anne (Tim) Evans.
Laura was born May 21, 1930 to Katherina and Jacob Friesen in Halbstadt, Man. She was married to Ike Dyck on Aug. 20, 1950 in Altona, Man., and lived in several communities in southern Manitoba before moving to their current home in Rainy River in 1966.
Laura devoted her life to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She had many stories of growing up on the farm in southern Manitoba and especially loved to share them with her grandchildren on her lap.
Being an avid reader, Laura would enjoy and initiate passionate discussions about any topic with whomever would participate. She also truly appreciated the beauty in nature, especially flowers, and had a spectacular display around the house every summer.
Laura and Ike very much enjoyed travelling, or relaxing and fishing at their cottage on a little island on Lake of The Woods. Laura also was active in the church and strong in her faith to the very end.
Laura leaves to mourn her husband of 57 years, Ike Dyck; children, Garry (Carol), Darryl (Corey), Nadine (Barry), Kevin (Kristen), and Stuart (Faye); as well as 16 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
She also is survived by two sisters, Eve Cleveland of B.C. and Alice (Fred) Perry (nee Brunn) of Alberta; sister-in-law, Neta Friesen of B.C.; brother-in-law, John (Betty) Dyck of Winnipeg, Man.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation took place Friday, Jan. 4, 2008 from 7-9 p.m. at the Rainy River Evangelical Covenant Church in Rainy River.
The funeral service was held Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008 at 1 p.m. at the Rainy River Evangelical Covenant Church, with Pastor Mark Mast officiating.
