The family of Alphy Johnson announces his passing on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007 at the age of 95 years.
He leaves to mourn his passing his sister, Florence Walker, her children, Fred (Diana) Walker and their children, Ken Walker and Ron Walker, and great-nieces and nephews; and sister, Gladys (Reinhold) Knodel, and her children, Keith (Brenda) Knodel, Myles (Carol) Knodel, and Terry Knodel.
He was predeceased in 2000 by his wife of 17 years, Isabelle.
Also surviving are his stepchildren, Linda (Alex) Wilson, Dave Ball, and Shari (Joe) Georgeson, and all their children.
Alphy also has six grandchildren, Londa (Jon) Judson), Jana Lentz, Letricia (Greg) Plett, Julie (Justin) Taylor, Rob Georgeson, and Lynita (Irnie) Froese; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; as well as step nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Emil and Lydia Johnson; brother-in-law, Jack Walker; and a great-niece, Kristin Knodel.
Alphy was born July 26, 1912 on the farm at Schuler. At an early age, he began farming and ranching cattle, doing so until he sold the farm in 1979.
In 1983, Alphy married a special lady, Isabelle Ball and spent 17 happy years with her at Emo, Ont. until her passing.
He moved back to Medicine Hat, Alta. in 2001, where he enjoyed the balance of his retirement at Chinook Village until health required him to move to Club Sierra.
Alphy was very active in community endeavours, participating in many committees, including the Medicine Hat Coop, Alberta Wheat Pool, Drowning Ford Grazing Association, Schuler 4-H Beef Club as a leader, and the Schuler Curling Club.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, and woodworking crafts with Isabelle.
In all of his community involvement and hobbies, people, especially his family, were of prime importance to him, as was his faith. Alphy will be sadly missed.
The funeral service was held at the Pattison Chapel on Monday, Sept. 10, 2007 at 1 p.m., with Pastor Don Friesen officiating.
A memorial service and Interment beside his wife will be held at a later date in Emo, Ont.
