DOUGLAS FRANK ‘DOUG’ LaBELLE

Douglas Frank “Doug” LaBelle, 70, of Lash Township, Ont., passed away Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
He was born Jan. 2, 1929 in Emo, Ont. to the late Frank and Hazel LaBelle.
Mr. LaBelle had lived all of his life in Rainy River District. He had worked in the bush from the age of 16, and was a skilled bushman who made an art of his work.
He also enjoyed gardening but most of all his family, especially his grandchildren, who were most important to him.
Doug was united in marriage on June 30, 1950 to the former Lois Weston, who survives along with their four children, Shelly LaBelle of British Columbia, Rocklin and wife, Cheryl, of Emo, Ont., Kevin and Bobbi of Barwick, Ont., and Conrad and wife, Wanda, also of Barwick, Ont.
Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, Dahnis, Enaunda, Terence, Douglas, Ryan, Travis, Rocklin, Sharissa, Tyler, Melissa, Samantha, Miranda, Dustin, and Oscar; one brother, Dearl LaBelle and wife, Violet, of Kenora, Ont.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Hazel; a sister, Maxine; an infant brother and a brother, Earl.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 8, 1999 at 2 p.m. at St. George’s Anglican Church in Emo. Rev. Merna Major will officiate, with interment in Emo Cemetery.
Friends may visit prior to the service at St. George’s Anglican Church.
Pallbearers will be Dale Strachan, Carmon Sheppard, Roy Sigurdson, Terence LaBelle, Doug LaBelle, Dahnis Forsythe, and Enaunda Forsythe.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, 840 Frenette Ave., Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 2N5.
