Gordon Baldwin, 90, of 960 First St. E., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 1998 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
He was born Aug. 16, 1908 in Fort Frances to the late Charles and Mary Baldwin. He lived most of his life in Fort Frances and on May 26, 1936, was united in marriage to the former Mary Ryan.
Gordon had worked for the Ontario and Minnesota Pulp and Paper Co. as personnel and public relations officer for 33 years, retiring on Aug. 31, 1973.
His interests were many, and often involved various outdoor activities. In earlier years, Gordon organized the Fort Frances Sportsmen’s Club and was its first president.
He was predeceased by one brother, Donald; and one sister, Carol; and by a special friend, Fred Inbau of Chicago, Ill.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Mary Baldwin of Fort Frances, Ont.; sister-in-law, Teresa Stuart of Fort Frances, Ont.; and by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A family memorial service was held Friday, Dec. 11, 1998 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Envoy Eric Alcock of the Salvation Army officiating.
Honourary pallbearers were Gordon’s relatives and many friends.
