PATRICIA JOSEPHINE (PATTI-JO) REID

Patti-Jo Reid, 59, of 322 First St. E., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away quietly with her family by her side at her home on Wednesday, May 9, 2007.
Patti-Jo was born Aug. 8, 1947 in Fort Frances to the late Angus and Agnes McEvoy. She was raised in Fort Frances and attended Fort Frances High School.
During her high school years, Patti-Jo was very active in athletics and school politics. Following high school, she attended the University of Michigan Marquette, and also graduated from the University of Wisconsin Superior in 1970.
On Dec. 28, 1968, Patti-Jo was united in marriage to Tom Reid and together they raised their family.
Patti-Jo taught at Fort Frances High School for a number of years, and coached basketball and volleyball. She later went into business with her husband, Tom, after raising their three children, Megan, Eryn, and Ryan.
Patti-Jo was very involved with the B.I.A., the Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Development Commission, the Police Commission, district policing, the School Violence Prevention Team, the special events committee for the Riverside Foundation for Health Care, and the Garden of Hope at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
Patti-Jo also was a liver recipient in 1994, which provided her more time with her family and friends. She also was very involved with organ donation and appointed with the M.O.R.E. Organ Exchange Program.
In recent years, Patti-Jo also was nominated and received the position of Fort Frances Citizen of the Year.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends alike.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Tom and Jim; and one sister, Pearl.
Patti-Jo is survived by her husband, Tom Reid of Fort Frances, Ont.; one son, Ryan Reid of Winnipeg, Man.; two daughters, Eryn Reid and Balazs Hollosy of Toronto, Ont., and Megan and husband, Greg Ross, of Fort Frances, Ont.; and one grandson, Dezso Hollosy-Reid of Toronto, Ont.
She also is survived by one sister, Arlene and husband, Bob Hekl, of Winnipeg, Man.; one brother, Jack and wife, Val, of Prince George, B.C.; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Cremation will take place at Rainy River Cremation Service in International Falls, Mn.
A celebratioin of Patti-Jo’s life will be held Friday, May 11, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances, with Fr. Francis Pudicherry officiating.
Interment will take place in Fort Frances at a later date.
Honouary pallbearers will be her family and friends that were so special to her.
