It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Dennis passed away Jan. 4, 2002 at home at the age of 62.
Dennis’ memory will be cherished by his devoted wife of 37 years, Sharon; his three children, Paul (Cory), Jason, and Lisa (Mike); his perfect little grandson, Zachary; his mother, Doris; and brothers, Ted (Jennifer) and David (Joanne).
Also left to mourn are his father- and mother-in-law, Ray and Claire Hastie; brother- and sister-in-law, Mark and Kris Hastie; nephews, John Krestanowich, Bill Krestanowich, Ryan Hastie, and Reid Hastie; niece, Cheryl Krestanowich; and many friends and family in Winnipeg, Man., Fort Frances, Ont., and Manzanillo, Mexico.
Dennis was predeceased by his father, William (Bill) Krestanowich.
Dennis was born July 4, 1939 in Winnipeg but moved to Fort Frances in 1948, where he spent his formative years.
In 1962, he moved back to Winnipeg to work as an accountant for the Hospital Association and Misericordia Hospital, then on to Winnipeg Supply, Motor Coach Industries for 19 years, and finally owner/operator of Kildonan Cleaners for the last eight years.
Dennis married Sharon in 1964 and started their family in 1969. They enjoyed vacationing with the family at Grand Beach each summer and, in later years, winter vacationed in Manzanillo.
Dennis was involved with his children at River Heights Community Centre as hockey and soccer coach, and vice-president for a team. He also was involved with the Red River Exhibition for eight years, chairing the security committee.
Dennis greatest joy over the last year-and-a-half was his grandson, Zachary. Spending time with him always put a sparkle in his eyes.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dennis’ memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, Man., R3C 2B7.
Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service was held Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St., Winnipeg, Man.
