PAULINE WILCOX (STADNYK)
Pauline “Polly” Wilcox, 85, of International Falls, Mn., passed away Monday, April 9, 2007 at Falls Good Samaritan Center in International Falls.
Born on April 4, 1922 in Kiev, Ukraine, Polly moved to Prince Albert, Sask. in 1925. She married Paul S. Wilcox on Dec. 23, 1948.
Pauline and Paul had three children, Ronald, Martin, and Judy.
Polly was very proud of her Ukrainian heritage. She grew up in Fort Frances, Ont., where she sang and danced in the Ukrainian choir. She recorded a record for the Canadian Girls in Training and sang in the opera “The Pirates of Penzance.”
Her favorite song was “Ava Maria,” and she sang it at many weddings and funerals.
Polly’s favourite hobby was cooking and baking, and many friends and neighbours were the grateful recipients of her baked goods.
Polly will be sadly missed by her immediate family, extended family, and her many friends.
She was predeceased by her father, Joseph Stadnyk, who passed away in 1947; mother, Anne Stadnyk, in 1977; son, Martin Eugene Wilcox on Dec. 6, 1975; sister, Mary Hladunx in 2005; and granddaughter, Nikki Pauline, in 1986.
Polly is survived by her husband, Paul Wilcox of International Falls, Mn.; son, Ronald P. (Maxine) Wilcox of Alaska; daughter, Judy C. (Eugene) Holt of Littlefork, Mn,; grandchildren, Jody D. (Becky) Wilcox, Staci Wilcox, Marissa Wilcox, Warren Campbell, Kirk Campbell, and Kirby Wilcox; and great-grandchildren, Michael, Marty, and Mathew Wilcox.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 13, 2007 at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in International Falls.
Interment will be in the St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery in International Falls.
In memoriam donations would be preferred to the Falls Good Samaritan Care Center.
