ANNIE MARIE BRUYERE
With great sadness, the family of Annie Marie Bruyere of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., announces her passing on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007.
Annie was born in Fort Frances on Nov. 18, 1926 to Frederick and Agnes Crowe.
As a young woman, Annie moved to Thunder Bay, Ont. to work for Canada Car as “Rosie the Rivetter.” It was during this time she met her future husband.
On Sept. 14, 1944, she was united in marriage with Edwin Nathanial Bruyere in Fort Frances. They made their home and raised their family on Couchiching First Nation (Five Mile Dock Road) on Rainy Lake.
In 1966, Annie joined Edwin in managing Campfire Island for the Peabody Coal Company, and later Brown Badgett Inc., until her retirement at age 65.
Annie was a wonderful cook. There was always an extra place at her table and her cookie jar was never empty. Her home was “home” to all who needed one, as she was “Mom” to many foster children.
Her greatest joy was her family, and she took pride in the strong ties that she held. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, and sisters, reminiscing and telling stories of her childhood.
Mom was never “too tired.”
Annie will be greatly missed by her children, Sandra (LeRoy) Mathews, Gloria Bruyere, Edwin Bruyere, Richard Bruyere, Theodore (Cindy) Bruyere, and Lynn Dawn Bruyere (Mary Waghorn).
She also will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Shannon (Milt), Tanya (Todd), Andrea (Sheldon), Jennifer (Joe), Delaney, Irwin (Jenny), Ryan-Isaac (Kirsten), Cheyenne, Edwin (Sandra), Alexander (Amy), Louis, Shaun, Johnna, Brett, Donna, Dennis, Mara, Cynara, Tremayne, Jasmine, Cherish, Armand (Shauna Leigh), and Christine (John); and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She will be missed dearly by her sisters, Doreen Allan and Elizabeth (Betty Lou) Larsen, and her brothers, Thomas Bruyere and David Crowe, all of Fort Frances, Ont.
Annie was predeceased by her husband, Edwin Bruyere; sisters, Janet Crowe (in infancy) and Rita Kielczewski; brothers, Benjamin Crowe, Wallace Crowe, Douglas Crowe, and Daniel Crowe; grandsons, Gavin Bruyere and Daniel Bruyere; and her parents, Fred and Agnes Crowe.
A celebration of Annie’s life will be held Monday, Feb. 26, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion in Fort Frances.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations can be made to the “Just Imagine” or the “Community Chest” campaigns.
“The song has ended
But the melody lingers on in sweet refrain;
For every joy that passes
Something beautiful remains.”
