In loving memory of Elisabeth (Betty) H. Neill, age 63 years,
who died unexpectedly at home, on Saturday, February 15, 2003.
She was born November 10, 1939 in Old Hamstocks Mains, East Lothian, Scotland,
where she attended public school. She also went to school for one year in Lerwick, Shetland,
before moving to Dryden in 1952 where she attended Dryden High School. In 1963 she trained at the Fort Frances LaVerendrye Hospital as a Registered Nurses Assistant, graduating in 1964 with a medal for general proficiency. She returned to
Dryden and worked at the Dryden District General Hospital.
In 1965 she married David Neill and spent the next 37 years with him.
Betty is survived by her husband David; her son Michael, of Dryden; sister,
Wilma Chapman, of Fort Frances; brother-in-law, Mervin Neill and his wife
Velma, of Wabigoon; niece, Dorothy-Jean Neill and her two children; her aunt
Mary Chapman, of Morden, MB.; cousins, Margaret Cove and husband
Stanley, of Roland, MB., Catherine Vanstone and husband Charles, of
Miami, MB., and Reginald Gibson and wife Brenda, of Scotland.
She was predeceased by her mother Marjory in 1982,
her father James in 1984, and nephew Jim, in 1993.
Funeral services for Betty Neill were held Wednesday,
February 19, at 2 p.m. in St. Luke’s Anglican Church,
with Rev. Pat Cleghorn officiating.
Interment followed in the Dryden Cemetery.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, February 18, from 3-5 p.m.
in the Stevens Funeral Homes “Moffat Chapel.”
