Peacefully on Friday, Feb. 28, 2003 at La Verendrye Health Centre in Fort Frances, Ont., our dear brother, uncle, and friend Earl passed away at the age of 79.
Earl is fondly remembered by his sister, Helen Younger of Winnipeg, Man.; sister-in-law, Ethel Carruthers; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends too numerous to mention, but all very dear to him.
Earl was born, raised, and lived his entire life in Emo, Ont., and was proud of it. He supported Emo throughout his life in many ways.
A very talented man with needle and thread, and in the kitchen, Earl won several awards at the Emo Fair and enjoyed sharing his baking with others in the community.
Earl operated the Canada Post rural mail delivery for 31 years and also started Meyers Taxi in 1949. Later in his career, he worked at the OPP detachment in Emo.
Always one to be busy, Earl spent many years of his retirement upholstering furniture and tending his yard and garden.
Although Earl never married and had children of his own, he was like a father to many nephews who lived with him throughout the years. He was always there supporting his family when they needed him.
Pallbearers will be his nephews, Dale, Drew, and Ryan Ramsdale, Duayne and Cameron Meyers, and Brent Dufault.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 8, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Emo United Church in Emo.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations may be made to the Emo Health Centre, 260 Front St., Emo, Ont., P0W 1E0.
