Surrounded by the caring staff of the Fort Frances and District Association for Community Living, John peacefully passed away Sunday, June 8, 2003.
John was born in Rainy River, Ont. on March 28, 1959. He spent much of his life in Thunder Bay, Ont., returning to the district in 1993 to live in Fort Frances.
John enjoyed Ontario Special Olympics sporting events, fishing, cross-country skiing, his backyard gazebo, holiday celebrations, and especially birthday parties.
John recently had celebrated his birthday with his many friends and the support staff who shared his life.
John is survived by his mother, Verda Turner of Winnipeg, Man.; his very special grandmother, Maggie Anderson of Rainy River, Ont.; as well as his friends at 145 Hudson Dr. here in Fort Frances.
If friends wish to join in his “party,” a celebration of John’s life, we will be gathering at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances on Thursday, June 12, 2003 at 10:30 a.m.
A noon luncheon will follow at 145 Hudson Dr., or at the Zion Lutheran Church in case of inclement weather.
Interment will follow at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Rainy River at 2:30 p.m.
A very special thank you must be extended to Dr. Nancy Naylor, Mrs. Donna Main and the nurses at CCAC, Mrs. Wilma Sletmoen and Mr. Henry Kaemingh (palliative care program), the nursing staff on St. Andrew’s Ward, Riverside Health Care Facilities, and the Community Support Services Staff.
Your help and support during this time was exceptional.
