ELSE FISCHER

Mrs. Else Fischer (nee Stoss), of Medicine Hat, Alta., beloved wife of the late Arthur Fischer, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 1, 2003 at the age of 84.
Else leaves to cherish her memory four children, Hannelore (Ulke) Helder of Bergland, Ont., Ralf (Odette) Fischer of Winnipeg, Man., Monika (Geoffrey) Armitstead of Medicine Hat, Alta., and Karl-Heinz (Gaedawne) Fischer; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three sisters in Germany.
Else was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Fischer, on Sept. 28, 1999; her parents, Erich and Maria Stoss; and one brother.
Else Stoss was born Feb. 13, 1919 in Bremen, Germany and married Arthur Fischer on Jan. 27, 1945 in Lemwerder, Germany. In November, 1952, they immigrated to Canada, settling in Bergland and later moving to Fort Frances, Ont.
During this time, Else raised her family and helped her husband on the farm. In July, 2000, she moved to Medicine Hat.
Else was a lady of many talents—sewing, crocheting, knitting, cooking, and baking. Her greatest love was creating homemade toys and selling them at farmers’ markets, both in Ontario and Medicine Hat.
Affectionately known as the “Toy Lady” by many children who loved her creations, Else will always be remembered by friends and family for her many hours of fun, joy, and happiness she brought with her cute and cuddly creations.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 18, 2003 at 2 p.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bergland, with Pastor Ron Grout officiating.
Interment will follow in the family plot at Bergland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Mrs. Else Fischer may do so with a gift to the Medicine Hat Palliative Care Society or to the Medicine Hat Cancer Centre, both c/o 666-5th Street SW, Medicine Hat, Alta., T1A 4H6.
