JOHN HUZIAK

Mr. John Huziak, 89, of Barwick, Ont., passed away Friday, Dec. 5, 2003 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Mr. Huziak was born Feb. 4, 1914 in the Calder area of Saskatchewan, the son of Elash and Pearl (nee Anderchuck) Huziak.
John grew up on his parent’s farm and received his education at a school in the area. As a young man, John worked in the Calder-Wroxton area wheat fields and also did carpentry work in the same area.
Later, he worked at freighting and logging in northern Manitoba.
In 1954, he was united in marriage to Lena Lasook of Goulais Bay, Ont. The couple later moved to a farm in the Barwick area.
Mr. Huziak made a living primarily working in the woods and farming. In 1978, they moved to the village of Barwick, where he and his wife resided until the time of his passing.
Among other interests, Mr. Huziak derived great enjoyment from his garden and yard work, and also from reading. He was especially interested in following world events.
Mr. Huziak was predeceased by his parents; daughter, Phyllis; six brothers; and one sister.
He leaves to mourn his passing, and celebrate his life, his wife Lena; son, Philip; and his extended family.
Services were held Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003 at the Barwick Community Church in Barwick. Pallbearers were Bill Clink, Charles Harrison, John Huziak, John Scheibler, Leonard Stafford, and Lyle Wheatley.
Interment took place at Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Funeral services were entrusted to Green Funeral Home of Fort Frances.
