ROBERT CURTIS ‘HUCK’ HALVORSEN

Robert Curtis “Huck” Halvorsen, 63, of Atikokan, Ont., passed away Monday, Dec. 22, 2003 at the Atikokan General Hospital in Atikokan. He was born Nov. 25, 1940 in Emo, Ont. to the late Curtis and Iris Halvorsen.
Robert had worked as a heavy equipment operator at Great Lakes/Bowater until his retirement in 1997. After retiring, he returned to work off and on, lastly working for Ricci Trucking in Ignace.
He enjoyed spending time at his cabin on Perch Lake, fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling. He also loved spending time with his family, hunting with his buddy, Steven, and the trips back and forth to Ignace with Jordan.
Robert was united in marriage April 16, 1971 to the former Sharron Kennedy, who survives along with their children, Shane Halvorsen of Atikokan, Ont., Sarah Halvorsen (Ed) of Barwick, Ont., and Ken Halvorsen of Atikokan, Ont.
Also surviving are two grandsons, Steven and Jordan; brother, Keith Halvorsen (Avis) of Marlboro, Alta.; mother-in-law, Anne Kennedy of Kamloops, B.C.; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
He was predeceased by his parents, Curtis and Iris; and his father-in-law, Cecil Kennedy.
Memorial services were held Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003 at 1 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Atikokan, with Pastor Ken Stainthorpe officiating.
Interment will take place in the Chapple Cemetery in Barwick, at a later date.
The honourary pallbearers were Doug Desaulniers, George Coulson, Wayne Nugent, Don Abbott, and Bill Harasymyk.
