Phil was raised in a small farming community of St. Benedict, Sask. After leaving the farm at a young age, he started working for the railway.
Life on the railway brought him to many locations. One location was Allenwater, where he met and married his first love.
After working for the railway, Phil moved on to employment with Ontario Hydro in Ear Falls, Ont. This is where his love for the north grew.
Phil then moved to Cochenour with his wife and six children, where he began to work for the mine and he began his business, Sugair Electric and Sugair Minnows.
For health reasons, he sold his businesses and with his second love in life, moved to Emo, Ont. to fulfill his last dream of farming.
Phil is survived by his companion of 17-and-a-half years, Lorna Bruchkowski; daughters, Peggy Turner (Rikk), Gail (Hal), Sally Tougas (Rene), and Sandra (Danny); sons, Gerry (Cheryl) and David; 12 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, Reese and Dustin; brothers, Ted (Loretta) and Tony; sister, Theresa Skeith; two nieces; and one nephew.
Phil was predeceased by his mother in 1977 and father in 2003.
