Daisy May Ranta (nee Tymchak) passed away suddenly at her residence in Fort Frances, Ont. on May 15, 2004 at the age of 84.
Daisy was born June 5, 1919 in Winnipeg, Man., where she was educated and later employed at T. Eaton’s mail order store, as well as numerous other jobs.
Living there until the 1950s, she moved to Fort Frances where she met Jorma Ranta. They were married Sept. 21, 1954.
Jorma passed away June 7, 1982.
In the mid-1970s, Daisy was a member of the Fort Frances Ladies Bowling League.
Walking uptown almost every day, she made many people smile along the way. The Harbourage Restaurant was often host for her coffee, where she chatted with her many friends.
Daisy is survived by a daughter, Senja Holbrook; son-in-law, Lawrence L. Holbrook; granddaughter, Cynthia; grandson, Brian; great-granddaughter, Tynika (Brian’s daughter); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are her sisters, Helen Walker, Mary Tymchak, and Teenie Contie; and brother Carl Tymchak, all of Winnipeg, Man.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Mike, Joe, and John Tymchak.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 22, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Joy of Life Fellowship Church in Fort Frances. Lunch will follow.
