Curtis Brown, 42, of 235 Scott St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away suddenly Sunday, May 23, 2004 at Couchiching First Nation, Ont.
He was born Sept. 30, 1961 in Fort Frances. At an early age, Curtis, along with his family, moved to Minneapolis, Mn., where he was raised. He later moved to Vancouver, B.C., where he lived much of his life.
Curtis worked in the Vancouver area as a labourer, and as a well-known portrait artist. He was very spiritual in his beliefs, and was devoted to his family.
Curtis will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
Curtis is survived by his mother and stepfather, Emma and Ralph Geyer of St. Paul, Mn.; and by his two children, Jenny May Brown and Braidy Brown, both of Fort Qu’Appelle, Sask.
He also is survived by his brother, Richard Vincent Brown, and his son, Richard Vincent Brown Jr., both of St. Paul, Mn.; and adopted brother, Christopher Paul of Caribou, Maine.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 28, 2004 at 10 a.m. at the Community Centre at Manitou Rapids (Rainy River First Nations), Ont.
Elder Harry Windigo will officiate, with interment in the Manitou Rapids (Rainy River First Nations) Cemetery.
The wake will be held Thursday evening at the Manitou Rapids (Rainy River First Nations) Community Centre.
The pallbearers will be Doug Perreault, Ben Brown Jr., Ernest Brown, Gerry Hunter, Joe Hunter, and Roland Bluebird.
The honourary pallbearers will be all of his friends and relatives.
