Helen “Jeannie” Piekarski

Helen “Jeannie” Piekarski, 64, of International Falls, Mn., passed away Thursday, May 8, 2003 after a brief illness at Falls Memorial Hospital in International Falls.
She was born Sept. 9, 1938 in Fort Frances, Ont. to Laurence and Gladys (Jackson) Sutton.
Jeannie was a resident of International Falls for 47 years, working at the Red Owl for many years before her journey of 33 years began, as the only original employee, since opening of the Holiday Inn.
She enjoyed her family and friends in the Falls and the Fort, and being at the cabin on Rainy Lake.
Jeannie is survived by her sons, John r. (Pegge) Piekarski of Cloquet, Mn., and James Piekarski of Fort Worth, Tex. one grandson, Anthony Piekarski of Fort Worth, Tex.; two step-grandchildren, Robert Dahl of Minneapolis and Amanda Dahl of Cloquet; two brothers, Art (Linda) Sutton of Winnipeg and William (Margaret) Sutton of Fort Frances; three sisters, Elaine Jones of Fort Frances, Jackie (Raymond) Catton of Barrie, Ont., and Barb (Terry) Ogden of Fort Frances; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her mother and father in 1974; sister, Lauris Ann Bunnell in 1965; and three brothers, Gerald in infancy, Bobby in 1954, and Ronald Sutton in 2002.
A celebration of Jeannie’s life will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at 1 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in International Falls.
Memorials may be made in Jeannie’s name to the Falls Memorial Hospital’s Chemo Centre for Children.
