Elsie (Sally) L. Shortreed, 80, of Watten Township, Ont., passed away at her residence on Tuesday, June 22, 2004.
Elsie was born Jan. 16, 1924 in La Vallee, Ont. to the late Frederick and Rosina Tummey. She was united in marriage on Feb. 15, 1941 to Arnold Shortreed.
Together, they moved to Toronto, Ont., where Elsie had a lengthy career with the Adams Brands Ltd. gum factory. They moved back to the lakeside in the early 1970s.
She enjoyed knitting, entertaining, and was a great cook. Her many pets over the years were well cared for—and a comfort to her.
Elsie was predeceased by her husband, Arnold, on May 18, 2001. She also was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Bill and Art; and sister, Doris.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Berna Shortreed of Fort Frances, Ont., and Ethel Cooke of Port Alberni, B.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 28, 2004 at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Rev. Marietta Marshall officiated, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
The pallbearers were Randy Shortreed, Brent Chapman, Glen Bergner, Mario Venerus, Steve Buttner, and Harlan Faragher.
