Milton E. Wright Jr., 85, a resident of Clinton Twp., Mich. (formerly of Mt. Clemens, Mich.), who will be remembered by his family and friends for his faith in God, devotion to family, integrity, sense of humour, and tireless good nature, passed away Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006 at Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center in Mt. Clemens.
Mr. Wright was born to Milton and Agnes (nee Fitzpatrick) Wright on June 20, 1921 in Deer Tail, Colo. His family moved east to Detroit, Mich. in 1928, where his father did heavy construction and worked in the tool and die industry while his mother served as a homemaker.
After graduation from Mackenzie High School in Detroit in 1940, Mr. Wright secured a position with the Michigan Bell Telephone Company. In 1946, he met Arline C. Himsl in Detroit, and they were married there on Jan. 17, 1948.
His 38-year career with Michigan Bell was interrupted by four years of active service with the U.S. Army during World War II, and also included 13 years of evening classes at the University of Detroit, which awarded him a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1957.
He retired from Michigan Bell in January, 1980.
Mr. Wright enjoyed sports, as both a spectator and a participant. He pitched in fast-pitch softball leagues and bowled regularly for many years. He also was an enthusiastic fisherman.
More recently, he developed a passion for golf and he played regularly until encountering health problems in the past year.
After his retirement from Michigan Bell, Mr. Wright worked part-time in the office of C&C Heating and Air Conditioning in Roseville, Mich.
In addition to his wife, Arline, to whom he was married for nearly 51 years, the loves of his life were his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Wright was a charter member of St. Thecla Parish, where he regularly served as an usher. In 1995, he was awarded the Frederick Ozanam Length of Service medallion by the St. Vincent de Paul Society for his long years of service to that charitable organization.
He is survived by two daughters, Jacklynne (Gerard) Guimond of Fort Frances, Ont., Canada, and Wendy (Michael) Corrion of Harrison Township, Mich.; son, Gregory (Suzanne) of Clinton Township, Mich.; and twin sister, Ruth (Edward) Behringer of Holland, Mich.
Also surviving are his grandchildren, Gregory (Heather) Faragher and Aynsley (Jon) Carrier, both of Shiloh, Ill., Michelle (Michael) Leventis of Windsor, Ont.; Mark (Sandra) Corrion of Grosse Pointe Park, Mich., and Gregory Wright and Kristen Wright, both of Chicago, Ill.; and great-grandchildren, Kaela, Jason, Duncan, Amelia, Sophia, Atticus, Benjamin, Jack, and Grace.
He was predeceased by his wife, Arline, in 1998; brothers, Donald and Frank Wright; and granddaughter, Stacey Lynne Faragher.
Inurnment of ashes will be private in Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Twp.
