JAN TYSZ

It is with great sadness that the family of Jan Tysz announces his quiet passing on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. at the age of 79.
Jan was born Jan. 19, 1927 in the small village of Dembno, Poland. He joined the Polish army in his late teens and after the war immigrated to Canada, arriving in Halifax on Jan. 12, 1950.
Jan settled in Winnipeg, Man., where he apprenticed as a welder, which led to a 25-year career with SuperCrete.
He was united in marriage to Sharon (nee Smith) of Fort Frances on Oct. 28, 1953 and resided in Winnipeg for most of his life. He moved to Fort Frances after his retirement in 1994.
Jan’s passion was welding. If it broke . . . Dad would weld it! When he wasn’t welding, he was cutting down trees up at Windy Point or standing on the dock throwing bread to his favourite seagulls.
“Poppa Tysz” will be sadly missed by his grandsons, Kevin, Steven, and Benjamin; granddaughter, Tara; and great-grandsons, Brendan and Tyson in Winnipeg.
Dad also is survived by his wife, Sharon; his sons, Rob, Terry, and Patrick; and his daughters-in-law Cathy, Cindy, and Kitty.
A private family ceremony will be held at a later date.
Friends may direct in memoriam donations to the “Just Imagine” campaign at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances. Donations for “Just Imagine” also may also be sent c/o Green’s Funeral Home, P.O. Box 427, Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 3M8.
