MONA HAZEL RALKO (GILL)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our cherished wife and mother on Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mona was born Aug. 4, 1922 in Emo, Ont., and spent her early years in Barwick, Ont. She “came over” to Kenora, Ont. (as mom used to say) at an early age and it was here that she met and eventually married her husband, Steve.
Mona can only be described as the most caring, compassionate person, always attending to the needs of her family and friends before herself.
Mona was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Jessie Gill; brothers, Donny, Cal, and Arnold; and two sisters, Avis Nault and Odell Ross.
She is survived by her husband, Steve and four children, John Ralko (Bonnie) of Winchester, Ont., Joy Peterson (Ken) of Kenora, Ont., James Ralko (Ruth) of Winnipeg, Man., and Fred Ralko (Myrna) of Keewatin, Ont.
She also was blessed with a number of wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mom also is survived by her brother, George Gill (Marg) of Capreol, Ont., and brother, Doug Gill of Fort Frances, Ont.
Family reunions were very important and special to mom as she could visit with the rest of her family, especially her nieces and nephews whom she thought of as her own. Mom’s cousins and friends also were very dear to her heart.
At mom’s request, there will be no funeral service.
A celebration of Mom’s life was held Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004 at the Knights of Columbus Hall. There will be a private family graveside service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, and if friends so desire, in memoriam donations may be made to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital CT Scan Fund or the charity of your choice.
Kenora Community Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
When her days on Earth are over,
a mother’s love lives on . . .
through many generations,
with God’s blessings on each one.
