FRANK WILLIAM BOYDA

Frank William Boyda, 70, of 188 Pine Cres., Atikokan, Ont., passed away suddenly Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004 at Cole Lake, Ont.
Frank was born Dec. 14, 1933 in Fort Frances, Ont. to the late William and Elizabeth Boyda.
Frank began working at a young age for the Canadian National Railways. He later worked at Caland Ore Mines for three years and Great Lakes Forest Products from 1974-1980. From 1980 to the present, he worked at Boyda Logging with his son, Glenn.
He also was a commercial fisherman and had a registered trapline since 1956, which was the first one from Mine Centre to Atikokan.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and picking berries, and was a past member of the Elks Lodge. His main interest, though, was his trapping.
Frank was united in marriage on Aug. 7, 1954 to the former Elise Larocque, who survives along with their four children, Glenn (Kathy) Boyda of Atikokan, Ont., Valerie (Brian) Pikov of Langley, B.C., Janice (Daniel) Ziehl of Richmond Hill, Ont., and Lana (Reid) Sherwood of Welland, Ont.
Also surviving are three grandchildren, Julie and Bill Boyda, and Elyssa Sherwood; two siblings, Bernice (David) Armit of Fort Frances, Ont., and Jack Boyda and friend, Dorrit Klarke, of Surrey, B.C.; mother-in-law, Valeda Larocque of Pinewood, Ont.; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Jim Gladu of Banning Lake, Ont., Leo Langlais of Dryden, Ont., Theresa (Paul) Gullekson of Pender Island, B.C., Phillippe (Marg) Larocque and Hubert (Marg) Larocque, all of Rainy River, Ont., and Yvette Lauzon of Fort Frances, Ont.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Elizabeth Boyda; and sister, Marion Gladu.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Atikokan, with Fr. Florentino Ferrer officiating.
Interment took place in the Little Falls Cemetery in Atikokan.
The pallbearers were Mike Gladu, Charles Armit, Daniel Romanson, Ed Thurier, John Charbonneau, and Monty Groulx.
The honourary pallbearers were Larry Grail, Alan Kielczewski, Floyd Kielczewski, Garth Napper, Bill Boyda, and Tom McLeod.
