“Our Irish Blessing”
David Wayne Roach, 50, of Apt. #113-1301, Elizabeth St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at La Verendrye Hospital on Monday, Nov. 6, 2006.
He was born March 17, 1956 in Fort Frances to William and Kathleen Roach.
Dave was raised in Fort Frances and was part of the “East End Crew” who could be found fishing the river banks, running the booms, or diving for golf balls, which he’d sell to golfers for uptown pocket money.
Dave also played minor hockey and stocked the family trophy case.
Dave relocated to Thunder Bay, Ont. at age 17 and spent his entire career working on the pipeline.
He loved fishing and hunting. Most weekends were spent in the outdoors instilling a love and respect for all things to his nephew, Justin, while accompanied by his dog, Askim.
Dave spent the past five years of his life in Fort Frances, close to Mom and Uncle Ernie Klyne.
Dave was predeceased by an infant brother, John; twin brothers, Randy and Dan; his dad, William; and many relatives who will greet him on his journey with much laughter and stories.
He is survived by his mom, Kathleen; brother, Bill (Alfriede) of Quesnel, B.C.; sister, Sandra of Gatineau, Que.; brother, Don, and sister, Joanne, and best friend, Linda Kozik; nephews, Justin Grouette, and Alexander and Jesse Roach; niece, Elizabeth Roach; and great nephew, James Gushalak.
Numerous aunties, uncles, cousins, and extended family also were closely tied to Dave.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Nov. 10, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church on Couchiching First Nation. Fr. Paul will officiate, with a luncheon to follow in the church basement.
A private family interment will take place at a later date.
Honourary pallbearers will be Jake Tucker, Mike Hupchuk, Kim Kozik, Gord Cameron, George Bruyere, Darren Turcotte, Pat Roach, Darren Loveday, Bill Roach, Don Roach, and Justin Grouette.

Dust me off. Feed me warmth.
You are comfort.
Let me lean on you until I can stand alone.
