Elizabeth (Betty) Kolynchuk

It is with our greatest sorrow that we let mom go to rest on Friday, October 8, 2004.
Born March 12, 1941, she was a dedicated wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt and best
friend. To us all she showed great courage and sublime spirit through her life
and in her journey to death after a courageous battle with cancer.
In her early years mom dedicated her time to being a wife and mother. Mom
participated and supported us through school, Brownies, Girl Guides, gymnastics,
basketball, volleyball, cheerleading, bowling, track and field, baseball, singing,
swimming lessons and band. All of our endeavors were shared and cherished. Mom
enjoyed immensely helping to plan our weddings and took great pride in our spouses
and what our futures held for all of us. When we reached adolescence mom took
time for herself and enjoyed taking some academic and interest courses and working
out of the home. She spent many hours planting at home where she had beautiful
perennial gardens. This led her to a floral position after being a clerk with Canada
Safeway to where she could put her hobby to work. Mom enjoyed 15 years working
at Safeway where she made many friends who appreciated her quick wit and
humour. Mom was also a volunteer librarian at Alexander McKenzie School when we were attending there. She belonged to
Rebekahs, a local “Birthday Club”, taught Girl Guides and Brownies, worked at Bastido’s Store and liked to bowl with her husband
and their friends on Friday nights in their younger years. As young girls we remember dearly the nights that mom and dad got ready
to attend the annual Policeman’s Ball, she looked like a queen in her dresses. Mom was able to retire early and she and dad moved
to Mine Centre to live on Turtle Lake where they cherished the peace of the birds, water and nature.
We thank Dr. Naylor at Riverside Health Care Facilities and Dr. Haaq and Dr. Anthes at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre
for their exemplary care and compassion. Most importantly we thank staff and the nurses, “the angels”, at Riverside for their kindness
and caring ways at a most difficult time. You will always be in our thoughts, we are so grateful to you all for your comfort, kind words
and understanding. Also, to those we have met on the CCU ward during our difficult time, sharing kind words and encouragement
and knowing there are others that share in the same hardship is a comfort. To all of you, take care, our thoughts are with you and
your families. Mom had many life-long friends who stopped by for visits, sent flowers, cards or called. You were with her until the very
end. She enjoyed the reminiscing of old stories, your comforting words and just your being there. Many of our friends were hers also.
Thanks to all of you from the bottom of our hearts. She treasured all of you as we do. Thanks also to family for their compassion,
kind words, flowers, cards and visits. We will always cherish your thoughtfulness.
Mom was predeceased by her father Henry Fisher in 1961 and her mother Patricia Fisher in 1988. With all of her soul mom takes with her
in memory her loving family. She will be deeply and sadly missed by her husband Frank of 43 years, their friend Zeeker and four daughters
Kathleen (Ian) McConnachie of Dryden; Rosemarie (Don) Beck; Sandra (Larry) Beck and Laura (Gary) Lockman; Tiger, Cooch and Bear all
of Fort Frances. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy and her greatest sorrow as she looked forward to seeing them get “big” in their
endeavors and achievements; watching hockey, dance, participating in every birthday party, babysitting every moment she could and
priding in their academic achievements. Steven, Shane, Carney and Shilo will be in her memory forever. She will also be sadly missed by
her two loving brothers and their families who were very dear to her; Bob (Paula) Fisher and their children, Jolene, Kris and Melissa all
of Winnipeg and her youngest brother John (Sharlene Lamb) Fisher of Nolalu and their daughter Christina of Thunder Bay. She loved
to spend time with her nieces and nephew in their younger years and continued to hold them dear to her heart as they were growing.
Mom will also be sadly missed by her only cousins Bill (Connie) Ducasse and Frank (Nora) Ducasse of Dryden,
Marshall (Therese) Ducasse of Cornwall and David Ducasse of Fort Frances and her Aunt
Mina Ducasse of Dryden. Her life has touched ours in so many wonderful ways.
At Mom’s request, there will be no funeral service. Family will celebrate her life.
Cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place
at Riverview Cemetery at a later date.
Forever, with love in our hearts, your work is done. Rest, dear Mom.
