ALBERT JOSEPH GAGNE

Albert Joseph Gagne passed away Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ont. following a lengthy illness. He was born in Iroquois Falls, Ont. on June 24, 1924 to Joseph and Mary Gagne.
He received his formal education in Iroquois Falls and Timmins, Ont. Before enlisting in the war, he worked briefly with a paper manufacturing company.
He enlisted in the R.C.A.F. during World War II and served from 1943-46, two years of which was overseas, in chemical warfare and firefighting. After the war, he worked for mining and paper manufacturing companies.
In June, 1957, he was joined in marriage to Marjory Gibson of Timmins. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and spending time with his family.
Albert was employed as a stationary engineer by Abitibi in Smooth Rock Falls from 1965-71, and by Boise Cascade Paper Co. in Fort Frances, Ont. from 1971 until his retirement in 1987.
In 1995, he and Marjory moved from Fort Frances to Thunder Bay.
Albert is survived by his four children, Vicki Gagne-Smith (Steve Smith) of Thunder Bay, Ont., Bert (Karen Homich) of Fort Frances, Ont., Mary and husband, Greg Herrmann, of Fort Frances, Ont., and Debbie Gagne of Niagara Falls, Ont.; four grandchildren, Jennifer Cadarette (Justin) and Joel Gagne of Windsor, Ont., and Danny and Carly of Niagara Falls, Ont.; two great-grandchildren, Gwynn and Meagan Cadarette of Windsor, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Albert was predeceased by his wife, Marjory, in January, 1998; his parents; two brothers; and seven sisters.
Cremation has taken place.
A funeral Mass was offered Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church in Thunder Bay.
