DONNA ELAINE MARWICK

With great sadness we announce the passing of our dear daughter, sister, and aunt, Donna Marwick, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 30th, 2004 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre after a long battle with diabetes and kidney disease.
Born Nov. 9, 1946 in Kenora, Ont., Donna lived and worked at Quetico Centre, in the Atikokan area, as head cook until moving to Fort Frances, Ont. in 1990. There, she worked at Rainycrest Home for the Aged as a health care aide for 13 years.
She was predeceased by her father, Lawrence, in 1984; and her sister, Beverley, tragically, in 1997.
Donna is survived by her mother, Leona Marwick of Fort Frances, Ont.; sisters, Nancy Hawley of Perth, and Heather (Eric) Swanson of Chemainus, B.C.; brother, Larry (Annette) Marwick of Kenora, Ont.; and sister, Cindy Nick of Fort Frances, Ont.
She also is survived by numerous nieces, grand-nieces, nephews, grand-nephews, and was foremost in helping raise her twin nieces, Marie and Leona Grandbois.
She was a terrific cook who enjoyed reading good books and collecting stray animals. She loved to tell a good joke, and was looked to by all in her family for her always wise, patient advice, wit, humour, and generous grace.
We would like to extend our family’s heartfelt thanks to the staff at the renal and ICU units, Dr. McCready, Dr. Watson, Dr. Yelle, and the staff at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances.
We also would like to especially thank the “Three Carols” at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre who really did go the extra mile for Donna.
Donna was able to find humour even in some of her most critical moments, and will be loved and missed forever.
Funeral services to celebrate Donna’s life will be held Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005 in the Kenora Community Funeral Home (821 St. Clair St. in Kenora), with Rev. Ren Amell officiating.
Interment to follow in Pineridge Cemetery in Sioux Narrows, Ont.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
