HERMINE GERBER

Hermine Gerber, 89, of R.R.#1, Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Monday, Jan. 31, 2005 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
She was born Oct. 7, 1915 in Reitnau, Switzerland to the late Jakob and Emilie Hochuli.
On April 18, 1940, Hermine was united in marriage to John Gerber and together they raised their family, immigrating to Canada in 1961 and farming in this area for many years, providing farm-fresh produce.
Like her husband, John, she loved the farm, her family, and her faith. Her generosity was evident to all who knew her. She had a fervent passion for people and their spiritual welfare.
Faithfulness characterized her whole life.
Hermine is survived by five daughters, Johanna and husband, Leland Johnson, of Brush Prairie, Wash., Elizabeth and husband, Philipp Schmuki, of Basel, Switzerland, Maria and husband, John Loewen, of Stratton, Ont., Ruth and husband, Mark Zupke, of Loman, Mn., and Martha Helen Gerber of R.R. 1, Fort Frances, Ont.; and six sons, John and wife, Marina, of Emo, Ont., and Samuel and wife, Marie, Markus and wife, Margrit, Jakob and wife, Ruth, David and wife, Emmy Beth, and Andrew and wife, Cornelia, all of R.R. 1, Fort Frances, Ont.
Also surviving are 38 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In Switzerland, survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, and several cousins.
Hermine was predeceased by her parents, Jakob and Emilie Hochuli; her husband, John Gerber, on May 24, 1989; one son, Daniel, in March, 1962; a granddaughter, Lydia, in November, 1990; and a grandson, Timothy, in July, 1991.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 4, 2005 at 1 p.m. at the Christian Reformed Church in Emo, Ont., with Rev. Denny Kenaston officiating.
Interment will take place in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances at a later date.
Pallbearers will be Hermine’s sons, John, Samuel, Markus, Jakob, David, and Andrew Gerber.
