KEN OIEN

Ken Oien passed away Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005 after a brief illness.
Born June 28, 1919 in Stratton, Ont. to Ted and Annie Oien, he lived in Emo, Ont. most of his life. He served in the Army Service Corps during World War II.
He retired from the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) as a patrolman in 1976 after 29 years and continued working at their summer resort north of Ignace, returning to Stratton in 1982.
He enjoyed farming and horses. He also was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #99 in Emo.
Ken married Helen Anderson on Aug. 31, 1945, who survives along with two daughters, Laura Boileau (Merv Yanchuk) and Kathy Rea; four grandsons, Mark Boileau (Marsha) and their children, Dawson and Danielle, Rene Boileau (Sherry) and their children, Andrew and Abby, and Scott and Sean Rea.
Also surviving are his sisters, Vivian O’Donnell, Eileen Alexander, Evelyn St. John, and June Robinson and their families; and special niece, Denise Bliss, and nephews Brian Bonot and Nevin Bonot and families.
He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Robbie Rea; brother, Noel; and sisters, Bernice Salchert and Gladys Bigelow.
Friends and family will gather in his memory at the family home (10 Charles St.) in Emo, Ont. on Friday, Feb. 18, 2005 from 2 p.m.
Cremation has taken place, with interment to take place at a later date in the Stratton Cemetery.
