STEPHANIE WINDSCHITI (HAWKINS)

Stephanie Windschitl (Hawkins), 45, of 850 Second St. E., Fort Frances, Ont., formerly of Emo, Ont., passed away peacefully with her family by her side at her home on Sunday, April 3, 2005.
She was born July 25, 1959 in Saint John, N.B.
Stephanie graduated from Mount Allison University in Sackville, N.B. with her Bachelor degree in Music. She also attended the Confederation College in Thunder Bay, Ont., where she received recognition in performing arts management.
Her career began in Thunder Bay, where she received a posting as organist/choir director at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, and taught piano in her own private studio as well as the Avila Music School.
In 1991, Stephanie moved to Rainy Rive District, eventually settling in Emo. Stephanie taught many piano students throughout the district, whom she came to admire and love.
Until her death, Stephanie was the organist and music director at St. John’s Anglican Church in Fort Frances. She was a talented pianist and harpist, performing and accompanying throughout the district.
She was the director of the Rainy River Community Choir since 1993. Stephanie also was very involved with the Rainy River District Music Festival.
On Jan. 22, 2005, Stephanie was united in marriage to Rick Windschitl in Fort Frances. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Fort Frances, where they have resided since.
Stephanie acquired many friendships of people in the surrounding areas that were close to her heart and whom she always kept in touch with. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends alike.
Stephanie was predeceased by her father, Henry Peacock; sister, Jill Suzanne; and one brother in infancy.
Stephanie is survived by her husband and best friend, Rick Windschitl, and daughter, Melinda Hawkins, both of Fort Frances, Ont.; her mother, Willa Peacock of Fredericton, N.B.; brother, Charles of Cap Pele, N.B. and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Margaret and Walter Windschitl of Sleepy Eye, Mn.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, April 7, 2005 at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Anglican Church in Fort Frances, with Fr. Wayne McIntosh officiating.
