Jessie Della May Baker, 87, of Emo, Ont., passed away Thursday, April 14, 2005 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Della was born June 9, 1917 in Emo to the late Duncan and Elizabeth Reid. She had lived all her life in Emo, and had worked as a clerk at Meyer’s Clothing in Emo for a number of years.
In her younger years, she had worked as a housekeeper in Emo.
She was united in marriage on Jan. 26, 1940 to Leo Richard Baker, who predeceased her on June 22, 1970.
She also was predeceased by her parents; eight siblings, Percy, Elsie, Vera, Edra, Archie, Elva, Jack, and Donald; and her great-grandson, Ryan Baker in infancy.
Della is survived by her son, Marlin Baker and his wife, Gaydonna, of Emo, Ont.; three grandchildren, Todd (Carrie) of Emo, Ont., Tyler (Angel) of Kenora, Ont., and Marla (Yves) Hope-Rapp of Coalhurst, Alta.; eight great-grandchildren, Joel, Jared, Jessie, Nicole, Jamie, Braden, Andi, and Georgi; two sisters-in-law, Ethel Reid and Iris Reid, both of Emo, Ont.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Della’s life was held Saturday, April 16, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Emo, with Pastor Andrew Hall officiating.
Interment will take place in Emo Cemetery at a later date.
The honourary pallbearers were Della’s great-grandchildren, Joel, Jared, Jessie, Nicole, Jamie, Braden, Andi, and Georgi.

To walk this road alone
I’ll live in memory’s garden dear

We’ve had our cup of joy,
But memory is one gift of God
That death cannot destroy.
