ALAN JAMES MELINE

1949 – 2005
Alan Meline, 56, passed away peacefully at his residence in Nestor Falls, Ont. on Saturday, July 2, 2005 surrounded by his family.
Alan was born on April 8, 1949 in Emo. He grew up in Nestor Falls where he would live for the rest of his life. He attended Nestor Falls Public School and Fort Frances High School where he was on the
Fort High Gymnastics and Football Teams.
On Jan. 16, 1971 Alan married Sandra Lundgren, the “love of his life.” Together they worked in the tourism business where Alan guided at many of the camps in the area. Alan bought Nestor Falls Sanitation from his Dad in 1973 but after a few years he returned to what he enjoyed the most–being out on the lake.
In the late 1970’s Alan started a Guide Service which he ran out of his home. In 1999 Alan and Sandy purchased McLeod’s Camp and renamed it Meline’s Resort. The following year they built a beautiful lodge for their guests to gather where many a fi sh story has been told.
Alan’s health began to deteriorate in 1994 when he suffered a heart attack. In 1996 he went into kidney failure but was fortunate enough to receive a donor kidney in April 1997. In the fall of 2004 Alan’s donor kidney failed and his general health worsened over the next few months. In March 2005 Alan’s vascular system shut down leaving him to courageously face four major surgeries and a heart attack. Alan never ever gave up the fi ght or will to live but with no options left he came home to be with the family he loved so much.
Alan is survived by his wife Sandy, his son Sean, two grandchildren Katelynn and Austyn, three sisters, Glenda Grennier, Shanie Meline-
Sachse, and Pat Boggitt; one brother, George; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Loretta and Carl Meline.
A Celebration of Alan’s life will be held on Thursday, July 14th, 2005 at 2 o’clock in the Nestor Falls United Church. If friends so desire in memoriam donations may be made to Saint Boniface Dialysis Unit or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
